Welcome to Tall Tree Electric!

Hello!

With much sadness and regret this message is to advise you, Duane, the sole proprietor of Tall Tree Electric took his final flight west on August 26, 2018.  This website will continue to be live for the time it takes for all his interested customers to have the details and information they need.

Thank you all so much for your loyalty and trust in Duane.

If you have interest, here is the obituary which ran for him in the Star Tribune

best,

Celia (wife to Duane)

Poehls, Duane, 58, lately of Ham Lake, aviation enthusiast and private pilot, electrical contractor extraordinaire, racing devotee, master man-of-all-work, champion hobbyist and dapper dresser, made his final flight west August 26, 2018.

In a leap of faith he’d moved from his Carlton, MN, origins to Ham Lake – big city enough enduring Twin Cities influences. To recharge, he often visited his beloved cabin on the Gunflint: Gordy’s place.

Duane’s Tall Tree Electric motto was “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” Most days found him in his signature, blue Tshirt, Wranglers & steel-toes. He never backed off any electrical or construction challenge. The only thing he never figured out was putting the seat down.

He built a stunning log home for wife Celia and two sons; Raynor – carrying out his dream as a commercial pilot, and Jeran –pursuing graduate studies in climate science in Germany. He took good care of his mom, Janet. He looked out for his little sister Cindy, her husband Drew and their children, all surviving him. Duane also looked after his dad who preceded him in death.

In his casual style, his family will throw him a hangar party in the spring of 2019. Contact the family or watch for NOTAM for details.

In lieu of flowers, he’d ask you to make a donation or volunteer at anywhere that suits you. For local ideas, Duane volunteered at his boy’s schools, the Minnesota Waldorf School and Great River School. The Minneapolis Memorial Blood bank also loved him as a donor and he was near his 19th gallon.

Tree, you will be missed immensely by all who knew you and by many yet to know you.

A green cremation was held Saturday, September 1, 2018.

Blue skies and tailwinds Duane.
